mohandas Gandhi once said …

Next to air and water,
Salt is perhaps the greatest necessity of life

Mohandas Gandhi ‘s 24 day march to the sea

From the 12th of march to april 5 1930
Was a pivotal event in India’s quest to become independent.
After almost 200 years of British Rule.

With over 70 marchers Gandhi walked from his Ashram
Community near Ahmedebad to the sea coast of Dandi.

Fearing arrest the marchers vowed to break the laws
which forbade Indians from gathering salt from the sea.
This peaceful protest of the laws and taxes imposed
by Great Britain
Was part of Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement.

This successful campaign was an effective way of challenging British Law and inspired many future peaceful campaigns worldwide.
